Ok everyone I have a question for you….would you rather get handmade items or store bought items as gifts. Whether it be for Christmas, birthdays or whatever. This came about after reading a letter on Dear Abby about a woman and her young niece who make handmade Christmas cards and send them out only to find out later that a lot of the people they sent them to thought they were being “cheap” for not buying store bought cards.
Personally, I love getting handmade things. Because to me, that just tells me that the person who made it thought enough of me to take the time and the effort to personally make something that came from the heart.
Now, I realize that everyone had different wants and needs and such, but I was just wondering what your all’s thoughts were on this.

I honestly don't mind either. I do like handmade stuff and would never consider it being cheap or anything.
Card wise, I tend to buy them because I can never think of a nice design to do. My mum makes awesome cards from parchment called Pergamano and she did me an awesome Snoopy one this year. I think it shows extra effort when it relates to something the person is particularly interested in.
Last year for Christmas, I wanted to send my Monkee friends something small so I made them all bookmarks with pictures of their favourite Monkees or whatever.
I don't really mind as long as you can tell some thought has gone into it.

Both mean a lot to me, and I like to receive both. It's great to hand make something special and also to find something that is perfect for the person you're giving it to.
This year I'm crafting presents for all my friends because none of us have a lot of money. For my family, I'm doing a little of both.

Handmade... it just feels like it has more love and effort put into it. <3
